- A recording made for television. Begins with Davis playing ‘So What’ with a sextet - Julian Adderly, alto; John Coltrane, tenor; Wynton Kelly, piano; Paul Chambers, bass and Jimmy Cobb, drums. The remainder of the programme shows Miles Davis playing three selections from his CBS album ‘Miles Ahead’, the orchestra being under the direction of Gil Evans. The 19-piece big band includes Ernie Royal, John Coles, Emett Berry trumpets; Frank Rehak and Jimmy Cleveland, trombones. The titles are: ‘The Duke’ (Dave Brubeck), ‘Blues for Pablo’ (Gil Evans) and ‘New Rhumba’ (Ahmad Jamal).
