Soulcaking at Antrobus

Synopsis
Every year at Hallowe’en a gang of men from the village of Antrobus, Cheshire, perform a traditional play in the pubs and village halls of the neighbourhood. The film shows a performance at the Wheatsheaf Inn, Antrobus, headquarters of the Soulcakers, on 12 November 1974 and tries to demonstrate what lies behind it. The first half is a straight record of the performance and the second half shows the performers in their everyday situations and has interviews with them.
