Synopsis
A video-based teaching pack following the television production process, using as a case study a controversial storyline from the drama BROOKSIDE, showing development from script conferences, production meetings, rehearsals and editorial decisions to final broadcast and critical responses. The video includes three title sequences from current British soap operas; a compilation of video extracts from the Voluntary Euthanasia Society and its opponents outlining debates around mercy killing, pain control and terminal illness, as covered in the story; detailed discussion of the development of one individual scene; analysis of other key scenes from the storyline; two complete BROOKSIDE episodes, together with promotional material.
