Small Arms, Soft Targets
- Synopsis
- In recent years the design of anti-personnel weapons has raced ahead. But new generations of automatic rifles, fragmentation weapons and landmines are producing an epidemic of horrifying injuries on the battlefield. Portable lasers designed to blind the enemy are just around the corner. Military medics and the war surgeons of the International Committee of the Red Cross struggle to keep up. Asks if the laws of war which limit weaponry can be tightened without reducing soldiers’ fighting strength.
