- Sir Alan Harris, in conversation with Mark Whitby of Whitby & Bird, talks about his education and work experience; wartime experience; Mulberry harbours, working in France with Eugene Freysinnet, the pioneer of pre-stressed concrete; his own practice. An acknowledged master of pre-stressed concrete, his work includes bridges, transport structures, system schools and nuclear pressure vessels. As Professor of Civil and Structural Engineering at Imperial College, his work advanced pre-stressing in structural, mechanical and hydraulic engineering.
