Simulations of Pharmacological Experiments on the Guinea Pig Ileum
- Synopsis
- Package of pharmacological experiments to teach basic receptor theory, including occupancy and how response size is related to occupancy. Introduces dose-response curves through simulated experiments on the action of drugs on isolated guinea pig ileum. Dose-response curves found using a range of drugs and drug combinations are used to discuss full and partial agonists, types of antagonism, and to show the presence of different receptors through the use of agonists/antagonists. For use in self-paced open learning, or as part of a lecture course. Approcimately 8 hours of teaching material.
