- Describes the ecology of four South Florida regions - the Atlantic coastal ridge, the Everglades, Big Cypress Swamp, and the coastal mangrove swamps. Illustrates the dependence of plant and animal species upon the topography of the areas and upon seasonal climatic variables, the interaction of species sometimes to mutual benefit, and the hazards presented to the ecosystem by the increasing local human population.
