Service of Care, A: Nursing People with Stomas

Synopsis
Stoma surgery is mutilating and many patients have to make massive adjustments to their body image. Sensitive responses and good clinical skills are needed. Although not an everyday occurrence in many nursing roles, it is vital to ensure that there is a basic topical understanding of the most common stomas and their management. The video examines this, together with some of the emotional problems patients many experience.
