Sepia Officinalis ('Sepiidae’): Courtship, Mating and Oviposition

Synopsis
Common sepia. In answer to the courtship of a male with its courtship colouration a female, which is ready for mating, answers with consenting gesture: the male responds with a similar gesture. During copulation the animals position themselves head to head. The eggs are laid individually and attached to solid objects.
