Self-Esteem and Personal Safety

Synopsis
Describes the groupwork for very young victims run by the Sexual Abuse Treatment Project. The six-week course aims to re-educate children about basic sexual facts, help them to distinguish betwen good and bad and ‘icky’ touch, allow children to reject unwanted touching assertively, place the responsibility on the perpetrators not the children; help the children to tell an adult until they are heard. Shows children and therapists looking at anatomically correct dolls, talking about picture stories, practising assertiveness singly, in groups and using video.
