Synopsis
Measuring the distances between layers by seismic refraction: a simple kind of seismic refraction experiment is set up in the Cretaceous chalk near Didsbury. Then, staff of a geophysical exploration company, Simon Petroleum, show how data is collected and processed in a seismic experiment is carried out at sea and seismic reflection has to be used. Ends with a view of the state-of-the-art 3-D Seismic technique.
