Seikan Tunnel, The

Synopsis
Illustrates the construction of Seikan Tunnel, the world’s longest underwater tunnel, linking the Japanse islands of Hokkaido and Honshu under the Tsungaru Strait and completed in 1988. The tunnel runs for more than half its length beneath the sea and was excavated under extremely difficult rock conditions in an area prone to earthquakes.
