Seeingdrawing
- Synopsis
- A collaborative project by Falmouth College of Arts, Ravensbourne College of Design & Communication, the University of Ulster, the University of Brighton and the London Institute has produced this interactive multimedia package for teaching drawing to art and design students. In six parts and containing over 30 hours of material, it is designed to help students develop as independent learners and provide a cost-effective teaching aid.
1: Developed by Camberwell College of Arts. Involves a consideration of ‘figure’ and ‘body’, and ‘objective’ and ‘subjective’. It questions how we perceive the world around us and how we sense through our own bodies.
2: Developed by Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication. A survey of the related areas of drawing for design such as architectural and engineering drawing, and drawing with a computer. In this section students accomplish key tasks at the same time as viewing examples of drawings, techniques and conventions.
3: Developed by the University of Ulster. Looks at how various types of designers use drawing in their work. Allows students to explore in detail how designers integrate and apply drawing to the creative process.
4: Developed by Falmouth College of Arts. Concerned with how drawings can be created in response to a variety of contexts. Aimed at first year undergraduates who may have limited prior experience of drawing and who may lack confidence.
5: Developed by Falmouth College of Arts. Conceived to support other elements of the package by introducing propositions about the physical properties of how the eye reacts to a reflected light to produce sensation.
6: Illustrates the potential uses of drawing in the fashion design process. Shows fashion students the thinking and conceptual development that inform the process of drawing in fashion. - Language
