- Synopsis
- Silent feature film exploring aspects of psychoanalysis. Suppressed childhood experiences urge a chemist to stab his wife to death. A doctor unlocks the ‘secrets of his soul’, reawakening suppressed childhood memories and setting the man on the road to recovery. The film, which uses Expressionist effects to portray dreams, obsessions and emotional conflict, was originally subject to severe censorship.
