Secret Sounds Screaming: The Sexual Abuse of Children

Synopsis
Explores the experiences of sexually abused men and women, both the psychological and physical impact, as well as the difficulties of going through the American legal system. Addresses the structural means by which child sexual abuse is perpetrated and how patriarchial institutions, such as the legal system, reinforce and recreate stereotype assumptions about the nature of child sexual abuse and the role of the perpetrator. The message is that analysis of incest and child sexual abuse cannot be confined to the personal, but that it is a cultural, political, spiritual and socio-economic issue.
