Seal Secrets

Synopsis: Examines how seals cope with being air-breathing mammals and yet fully functional underwater. Follows three research projects carried out by the Sea Mammals Research Unit based at the British Antarctic Survey, Cambridge: work on common seals in Norway, on grey seals in Orkney, and on elephant seals in the South Atlantic. The results provide a picture of the physiological canges that occur during diving in seals.
