Beginning of Life, The

Synopsis
Uses in vivo photography in mammals and humans to show the formation and development of sperm and oocyte, the passage of the egg cell down the Fallopian tube, sperm detachment and travel to the egg and fertilisation. This is followed by the sequence of cell divisions to form the blastula, the formation of the primitive streak in the notochord, somite development and later development to the time of the first heartbeat of the human embryo.
