- Synopsis
- A video-based package, with film of songs and dances carried out by the wives of King Gbèfa (1948-1976) from the palace at Porto-Novo in Benin. The women sing long poems ‘a capella’ while resting on canes, and short songs accompanied by bells and drums. The film was recorded by Jean Rouch in 1969.
