Synopsis

Introduces the German Bauhaus school of design (1919-33) and its relevance to present-day design of everyday objects and outlines the school’s history and teaching methods, and shows examples of Bauhaus design in furniture, graphics, architecture, painting and textiles. Some examples are taken from the 1968-9 Bauhaus exhibition held in London. Also shows modern-day versions of classic Bauhaus designs.
