Looks at selected extracts from Howard Barker’s plays to reveal the social and political themes that inform his work. Focuses on the Royal Shakespeare’s 1985 season produced at the Barbican Theatre, London, and justaposes extracts with comments from actors, directors and critics. Includes segments of ‘Don’t Exaggerate’, ‘The Castle’, ‘No End of Blame’, ‘Scenes from an Execution’, Downchild’, ‘Played in History.

Arts on Film Archive offers on-line access to a large range of films on art produced in the United Kingdom since the 1950s, and is a unique record of British and international post-war art, as well as of documentary film-making in the UK.
