Synopsis
A video-based teaching pack which uses clips from the IBT/Yorkshire television documentary series THE DISPOSSESSED, adapted for schools. Includes testimonies and views of refugees from Eritrea, Turkish Kurdistan, Colombia and Somalia, as well as schoolchildren in Britain. Looks at entry restrictions, detention on arrival, implications of the ‘new Europe’ for asylum seekers, racist attacks on refugee hostels in Germany, and underlying causes of the crisis.
