Red Grouse: A Case Study

Synopsis
A long-term investigation into factors affecting the number of red grouse on Scottish heather moors. Dr Adam Watson of the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology, who has studied the grouse since 1956 describes techniques of capturing, marking release and observation. Dr Robert Moss, also of the institute, describes methods of assessing the nutritive value of the heather eaten by the grouse and its effects on their aggression.
