Synopsis: With the aid of a bicycle, an Aston Martin V8, and a custom-made tachometer, investigates slope, maxima and minima, points of inflection, and the relation between instantaneous speed and the tangent to a curve. The concepts are used to investigate a traffic-flow problem on a busy motorway.
