Bats of Tamana, The

Synopsis
Examines the complex network of life in the caverns of Tamana Cave under the tropical forests of Trinidad, which depends on one group of animals - the bats, which feed in the forest outside, but return to the cave to roost. It is their droppings which fuel the whole underground ecosystem. Looks at the different life-forms such as the frogs, and the coral snake which feeds on their tadpoles. Everywhere are clouds of bats which make life possible. The temperatures in the caverns are in the high nineties, and carbon dioxide levels in parts are intolerable to humans.
