- Synopsis
- A teaching package to teach the handling of radioisotopes, both for laboratory work and in the hospital dispensary. It consists of 14 activities covering the fundamentals of radioactivity and applications of radiopharmaceuticals in medicine. Looks at the basic theory of radioactivity, including the types of radioactivity and their differences. Shows how to calculate half-lives, dose limits, the biological effects of radiation and discusses safety procedures. Also discusses where radiopharmaceuticals might be used, how to dispense them, how to calculate doses and activity of radiopharmaceuticals administered and how a typical radiopharmacy is organised, including its daily operations and quality control procedures. Suitable for self-paced open-learning or as part of a lecture course. Approximately 3 hours of teaching material.
