Basketry in Egypt: Ancient Traditions, Modern Applications

Synopsis
Based on the excavations of the Egypt Exploration Society at Tell el-Armana and Qasr Ibrim, and presented by Dr Willemina Wendrich, Assistant Director of the Netherlands Institute of Archaeology in Cairo, these slide sets explore and define the function of and meaning of basketry in Egypt past and present. Four techniques are introduced: coiling, twining, weaving, and plaiting.
