Psychopathology: Diagnostic Vignettes (3 Parts)

Synopsis
Excerpts from interviews with patients who exhibit characteristic symptoms of schizophrenic and affective disorders. Actors play the patients but the dialogue is taken from transcripts of actual interviews.
1: Four cases of depression illustrating the differences between minor and major depressive disorders, psychotic and non-psychotic disorders, primary and secondary disorders, unipolar and bipolar affective disorders.
2: Four cases illustrating manic depression. One pair of vignetts shows a woman during two phases of bipolar disorder - a depressive episode, and later during a hypomanic phase. The other examples show different combinations of manic characteristics, including euphoria, delusional thinking, pressured speech and flight of ideas.
3: Four cases that represent classic patterns of schizophrenia, emphasizing the heterogeneity of this general diagnostic category. The patients exhibit various signs of formal thought disorder including derailment, tangentiality, neologisms, poverty of content of speech and illogicality, as well as different types of hallucinations and delusions.
