Psychology of Pain, The

Synopsis
Examines the psychology of pain and visits the Walton Pain Management Centre in Liverpool, where people learn how to manage chronic pain. Distinguishes between the pain itself and what the sufferer feels about it. Uses firewaking to demonstrate how the mind can be trained to overcome standard responses to pain. Shows various techniques that alter peoples’ attitude to their pain and consequently the way it affects them. Several people tell how they have been able to change their responses to pain.
