Joan Copjec discusses ‘The Invention of Crying: Melodrama and Magnitude’, which explores the relationship between melodrama and certain representations of women within society. Slavoj Zizek discusses ‘The Sublime Image of the Victim’, and with the example of Sarajevo in mind, considers representations of the victim and how presentations of victimhood elide other more problematic positions.
