- Synopsis
- A history of some of the main issues in computer software: Collossus, perhaps the first electronic computer; recollections of the pioneer programmers or coders - the women who worked on ENIAC, the first American electronic computer; the world first practical stored program computer EDSAC (original archive footage); the development of the main high-level programmeing languages from the 1960s and 1970s - Fortran and Cobol; crises in the software industry. Participants are mainly academic commentators or compuer coders and operators who had first-hand experiences of the very early machines.
