- Synopsis
- A CAL module introducing the compass-clinomater, designed around the use of the Silva Type 15, an instrument in common use, as preparation for geological field work. In eight units: description of the instrument, correcting for magnetic variation, taking a sight bearing, determining grid references, measuring dip and stroke, levelling, sources or error, summary and assessment. Approximately 4 hours of teaching material, intended to complement traditional lectures and practicals.
