Prepared for Theatre

Synopsis
Demonstrates the precautions and techniques that must be employed by anyone who enters an operating theatre, in order to reduce as far as possible the risk of cross-infection to the patient. Follows a group of medical students as they are taught how the problems of transmitting harmful bacteria arise, and what basic steps should be taken before entering the theatre suite. They are shown how to change for the theatre and how to wear a mask effectively. Shows the techniques of ‘scrubbing up’ and of putting on sterile gowns and gloves and highlights some of the common problems and pitfalls as the students try it for themselves.
