Positioning and Handling the Hemiplegic Patient
- Synopsis
- Recovery after a stroke is greatly facilitated by correct positioning and handling of the patient during convalescence. Demonstrates techniques of positioning designed to reduce spasticity by encouraging reflex inhibition of the spastic pattern that develops in most patients after a stroke. This is followed by a demonstration of correct handling techniques which inhibit the development of abnormal patterns of movement and facilitate the development of normal ones.
