Synopsis
An introductory television programme produced to coincide with the Pompeii AD 79 Exhibition at Burlington House. John Ward-Perkins, Academic Advisor to the Exhibition and formerly Director of the British School at Rome, discusses Pompeiian art with Dr Lionel Butler, Principal of Royal Holloway College and a medieval historian of distinction. The programme is illustrated with examples of the works on display and sets Pompeiian art in its historical, aesthetic and social context.
