Poetics of Movement, The

Synopsis
Dominique Dupuy has been a highly respected presence in French contemporary dance for over 50 years. In 1996 the International Workshop Festival invited Dupuy to work with dancers and performers in the over five days. This video is a record of the training session of the last day - the first time that Dupuy had allowed a radio microphone to be used. In this session, Dupuy, using a variety of practices and objects including sticks, heavy skirts and bars, is seen moving the participants towards a fuller ralationshiop between gesture, image and space.
