Plataforma Solar de Almeria, The

Synopsis

Introduces the Plataforma Solar de Almeria (PSA), which belongs to the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Energy’s Centro de Investigationes Energéticas Medioambientales y Tecnologicas (CIEMAT) and is the largest European centre for solar thermal energy applications. Its main objectives are 1) electricity generation; 2) industrial thermal processes; 3) solar chemistry; 4) materials testing and 5) education and dissemination of experience. The PSA is a unique centre for carrying out a wide range of experiments for the application of solar thermal energy. The European Community and the Spanish CIEMAT have agreed to provide free access for European researchers to the PSA facilities under the LSF activity (access to Large-Scale Facilities) of the TMR (Training and Mobility of Researchers programme.
