Pieces of Dorothy

Synopsis
A biographical documentary about Dorothy Heathcote, an untiring pioneer of drama in education. Between 1971 and her retirement in 1986 dozens of videotaped projects demonstrate her classroom use of concepts such as myth, role, symbol, sign and ‘mantle of the expert’, which has earned her a world-wide reputation among drama teachers. The video contains extracts of nine of her teaching videos and new interviews with Dorothy herself. Her work is assessed by teachers from around the world and the new Dorothy Heathcote Archive at Lancaster University is discussed.
