Phytophthora Infestans: The Pathogen of Late Blight of Potato

Synopsis
Late blight fungus ('Peronosporaceae’). Pathogenesis and vegetative development of the facultative parasite on and in the potato leaf of the susceptible First Early Dutch variety. On the leaf ribs the entire infective process and the outward growth of the sporangiophores through the lower epidermis are seen laterally. Infective hyphal growth in palisade and spongy mesophyll. Time-lapse.
