Peter Blake and ‘Pop’

Synopsis
In discussing the work produced by ‘pop’ artist Peter Blake for advertisements, record sleeves and other popular commercial designs, this study throws light on the emergence of a new idea of ‘Britishness’ at a time of great social upheaval in the 1960s. The slides cover over two decades of the artist’s work, from Blake’s ‘pop’ portraits of the 1960s to his book covers of the 1970s through to his designs for the ‘Feed the World’ campaign of 1984.
