Pest Wars

Synopsis
Questions the efficiency of chemical pesticides, which are revealed to be expensive, environmentally unfriendly and ineffective. Reviews the development of biological pest control, looking at current projects worldwide, ranging from the cultivation of spotless tomatoes in Europe to the rice-growing south-east Asia. Shows how biological control is eradicating the New World screw worm, whose maggots feed on the living flesh of animals and humans alike. Natural solutions to pest problems have entered the mainstream of global agriculture.
