Perturbation Theory
- Synopsis
- Teaching material in four parts: non-degenerate theory; non-degenerate example; degenerate theory; degenerate example. Covers two forms of time-independent perturbation theory with an example of each. Allows for students’ frequent lack of ability in manipulating the type of algebra found in quantum mechanics (eg expressing a wave-function as a sum over an orthonormal set). Approximately six hours of teaching material.
