Synopsis
A video-based study pack on ‘Pride and Prejudice’, offering a range of views on Jane Austen’s era and examines the use of irony, the nature of relationships and the characters withing the novel, illustrting its points by using extracts from the television adaptation as well as BBC archive material. Professor Mariyn Butler discusses characters and relationships. The audiocassette features Andrew Davies (who wrote the screenplay for the recent television production) and Fay Weldon discuss the dilemma of adapting Jane Austen.
