Synopsis
Traces the causes and course of the Persian Wars, from the Ionian revolt against Persian rule in the town of Miletus in 499BC to the Battle of Platea. Filmed on location, shows the major sites of the campaigns from Asia Minor to Greece. Part 1 (499-490BC) covers the periodthe formative events of the period up to the battle of Marathon. Part 2 (480-479BC) continues the story as King Xerxes assembles his forces for the third and largest invasion launched against Greece.
