Paper: Its History and Uses
- Synopsis
- Uses slides, charts, graphs, diagrams and demonstrations to explore the growth of papermaking from its roots in second-century China through its spread to Europe and rapid growth with the appearance of printing, especially with the powered presses of the industrial revolution. The technology to pulp timber opened the way for more printed materials and for more diverse uses for paper; these in turn have strained waste disposal systems and led to ineqality of resource distribution.
