Synopsis
PANDORA’S BOX is an award-winning 6-part series on the impact of science and technology on everyday life in the twentieth century, and their reflection in changing media images of science and scientists.
Part 2 deals with the development of the atom bomb and civil nuclear energy. The rise and fall of the men who believed the world could be controlled by the scientific manipulation of fear. Mathematical geniuses employed by the American Rand Corporation, they were convinced that they could apply the methods of science to the terrors of the Cold War and so build a new age of peace and reason.
