Ovulation and Egg Transport in the Rabbit ‘Oryctolagus Cuniculus’ (Leporidae)
- Synopsis
- Shows the rupture of several ovarian follicles in the living rabbit. Ovulation was induced by gonadotropic hormones and the ovaries and oviducts were brought into a special chamber implanted into the anterior abdominal wall. The reproductive tract was bathed in Hank’s solution maintained at body temperature. Shows the mechanism of egg transport from the surface of the ovary to the isthmoamopullar junction and emphasises the specific roles of cilia and muscle in this process. Some background information is probably required prior to viewing the film. An Encyclopaedia Cinematographica film.
