Bad Blood

Synopsis
A critical account of the British government’s response to the need to produce Factor 8 concentrate - the clotting factor required by haemophiliacs if they are to maintain a reasonably normal life. Following an earlier investigation in 1975 which had pointed to the risk of infection from hepatitis in imported blood products, the most recent fear about AIDS which can be transmitted to haemophiliacs by Factor 8, raises new concern over the government’s commitment to self-suffiency in Factor 8.
