Outbreak of the First World War, The

Synopsis
Centres on an interview with Professor Fritz Fischer and the debate surrounding his thesis that a general war was planned by the leadership of Germany to prevent the growth of Slav power. This offers an interesting exercise in interpreting conflicting evidence and ends with the suggestion that the outbreak of war was by no means as widely popular as has been supposed. Presented by Professor V R Berghahn with Professor Fritz Fischer.
