Out of the Mouths of Babes

Synopsis
Examines the theory that a child’s ability to talk is partially innate, that babies are born with the capacity to extract not just words, but rules of grammar from what they hear spoken around them. The programme draws on several different studies, though much of it focuses on the work of Harvard University psychiatrists Peter and Jill de Villiers.
