Our Daily Bread
- Alternative title
- Miracle of Life, The 1
- Synopsis
- Tells the story of a young couple in financial trouble who decide to take over an abandoned farm owned by the husband’s uncle. With the help of a local Swedish farmer they make it productive, and gradually a co-operative community establishes itself, in which support is mutual and money is not needed. The videocassette also contains a brief introduction made by King Vidor in 1983, and two newsreels made in 1934 in response to the use of OUR DAILY BREAD by the Democratic Party in the California elections. They purport to be objective, but were in fact produced by Irving Thalberg in order to sway the vote towards the Republican candidate.
